Hi, I'm Teresa!
Personal Philosophy
Hello! I approach therapy as a human first, bringing compassion and transparency to the process. I don't believe in magic "fixes," but I do believe in the power of meaningful collaboration. My personal experiences with therapy and therapeutic practices have been healing and hopeful, and led me to study mental health in a professional capacity. I find deep meaning in collaborating with others seeking change in their lives. People who no longer want to be held back by what their past, culture, or norms say should be, but instead want to live boldly and authentically.
Professional Background
I have been in the social work field for over a decade and have been practicing therapy for 8 years, earning my Master’s in Social Work from Saint Louis University. While I have a wide range of clinical experience, much of my background is rooted in supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. I
This includes:
Supporting children witnessing domestic violence at home (education groups, support groups)
Courtroom and first-response services for those experiencing domestic violence and/or stalking
Individual and group therapy for complex trauma at a St. Louis non-profit organization
Developing and leading specialized group therapy curricula (some examples of groups I co-led: sexual intimacy after trauma, LGBTQ+ trauma recovery, and domestic/sexual violence recovery)
I founded Phoenix Wellness in 2021 to provide individual therapy for clients navigating adulthood after intergenerational trauma, dysfunctional family dynamics, and high expectations. I specialize in supporting women who feel pressured to always be "fine" and reliable for everyone else, while secretly feeling completely unseen.
Phoenix Wellness is built on the belief that you have an inherent ability to cultivate resilience, joy, and power. My therapy space is warm, collaborative, and dedicated to helping you break intergenerational cycles and reclaim a sense of agency in your life.
You are welcome here, and you are worthy of receiving support!

Teresa Outside the Office
Outside of my therapy practice, I am dedicated to maintaining my own balance and joy! At home, I have a husband, daughter, and two dogs, Copper (my 70-pound lap dog), and Korra (a fiercely loyal goofball). When I'm not geeking out about neuroscience or absorbed in a good book, you can find me cooking, exploring the outdoors, or on my mat practicing yoga.
